Tom had to leave on June 21st for his annual week-long business trip to Kansas City. My parents arrived on the same day to help me out with the boys. Evan had an especially hard time adjusting to his dad being away last year, so I really wanted to keep him distracted this year. He had a lot of emotional ups and downs during the week with several "I want my Daddy" moments, but he did pretty well over all. On Friday night, we had a nasty thunderstorm and both boys were really frightened by the lightening and thunder. I suggested that we hide in the closet with a flash light, and Evan like this and was a big help in making his little brother feel better.
On Saturday, we all went to the local Outlet Mall, which has lots of little mechanical rides for kids and an outdoor playground. Evan seemed to be having a good time there but as we were leaving, he said "Mama, you made us stay too long at the outside mall." It was awfully hot that day.
