"I'm So Excited About Christmas!"
Evan started going wild for Christmas sometime in November, so when Christmas Eve finally got here, he was about to explode. He kept doing a crazy little dance while singing "I'm so excited about Christmas." But when Christmas Day arrived and he went down the stairs, he was a little confused/upset because Dylan's presents from Santa weren't wrapped but his were. It took us a while to convince him that he would be really happy with his presents once he actually opened them to see what was inside. But once he finally started unwrapping, he seemed to love everything he got. My parents got him a stuffed Kermit the Frog which he was really happy about. He kept hugging him and saying "I love Kermie so much!" He was also very pleased with the big Batman's Batcave that Santa brought him! But the most played with toy so far has been the magnetic alphabet that I got him. We put them on the refrigerator and he was very proud to show us that he could spell Evan by himself.

The Handsome Prince Evan
I took Evan to a birthday party for one of his preschool friends and the invitation instructed everyone to dress as a prince or princess. I was going to try to rig together something cheap for the occasion but ended up taking the easy way out when I found this Prince Charming costume on sale on Amazon.com. He looked so cute in it and loved wearing it, so it was worth it! He was a big hit with all the princesses at the party, too.

Movie Date
Evan and I had our first mother-and-son movie date recently when I took him to see "The Muppet Movie." He did pretty well and only got restless once around the midpoint. I took him out in the hallway to let some energy out and then we went back in. He wanted to climb the stairs to the back of the theater but I whispered "No, we have to stay in our seats like everybody else." Just then a woman started up the stairs to return to her seat and Evan exclaimed (quite loudly) "BUT THAT LADY GOT TO WENT UP THE STAIRS!" The biggest problem we encountered is that Evan didn't quite weigh enough (just 32 lbs.) to keep his seat from flipping up and trying to swallow him whole. He said "Mama, the chair is eating me!" I had to keep my hand on the seat in order to hold it down, so when that became tiring, I just put Evan in my lap. Overall, it was a successful outing and when we walked out of the theater, Evan shouted "THAT WAS SO FUN!!!"

Playmates
Ever since Evan's baby brother Dylan started walking, Evan has really enjoyed playing with him. On Friday, we had beautiful weather so I took them both outside. This was Dylan's first time to be set loose on the tennis court where Evan and I often play, and he LOVED it. Evan seemed to love having a new playmate out there, too. It was really cute to watch them interact. And while Dylan shed a few tears out there, it wasn't because of rough-housing from Evan (which is often the reason). A neighbor brought her dog up to the other side of the fence so the boys could see it and Dylan got upset when the dog has to leave.
