Snoring in the Ball Pit

We moved the 'ball pit' into Evan's play pen so we could free up his swimming pool for swimming! Today he was busily playing in the pen, talking to one of his toys one minute, then snoring really loudly the next. This kid can fall asleep just about anywhere!

Making Progress

Here's Evan's third day in his new walker. He's moving around pretty well now. You would never know it from the video, but he's got an ear infection and a fever. Even when he's sick, he's still a happy-go-lucky little guy. (At least during the day time.)

The Walker

Here's Evan trying out his new walker for the first time. He's not too sure about it yet but he'll probably be racing around the kitchen a few days from now.

The Pool - Part 2

The Pool

I have been looking forward to letting Evan try out his swimming pool as an actual outdoor pool instead of an indoor ball pit for the last month, but it's either been too cool outside, or raining, every weekend since I got it. FINALLY, the conditions seemed right today. However, when I plugged in the little electric pump to inflate the pool, Evan started screaming and crying frantically at the noise. So Tom took it down stairs to his den and finished inflating it. He then went outside to mow the grass and I went to the den to inflate the separate sun canopy. I could hear Evan still fussing in the kitchen so I left the pump running unattended (I know, bad idea!) and ran back upstairs. I was dressing him in his swim diaper, trunks and t-shirt when I suddenly heard a horrible shrieking noise coming from the den. I plopped the little half-dressed, screeching baby in his play pen and when I got downstairs, I discovered that the pump had flopped over in the pool and was writhing around and there was a burnt rubber smell in the room. I turned it off and unplugged it, and when Tom tried to operate it again a little later, he said it I had killed it. Sigh.

So later we took the pool outside, without the canopy, and I started filling it up with water in a pitcher from the kitchen sink. At this point, I had Evan riding in his little swing in the kitchen while I got everything together, and he started crying again because he didn't want to be in the swing. Finally, everything was ready and I plopped him down (still crying and fussing) in his pool for the first time. It only took him about 2 seconds to figure out that he LOVED this, and he got a huge grin on his face and then started splashing like a madman. So after all that hooplah, it was still worth it in the end. (Phew.)

Fun in the Baby Cage

We bought a "Super Yard" so we could gate off a portion of Tom's den and give Evan some room to roam without having to worry about him getting into everything he shouldn't. We've had it less than 24 hours and it's already been the best baby product we've purchased by far!

Splish Splash

Hard to believe this is the same kid who was so traumatized by bath time just a few short months ago...

The Evan Dance

Check out Evan's super cool new dance moves. And they work with just about any song as long as he adjusts the tempo of his head-bobbing.

More Fun in the Saucer

Fun in the Saucer

The Window

Since discovering that he could pull himself up to a standing position using various objects last week, Evan has come a long way with honing his new skills. He's still a little rough on the getting back down part, though...

Speed Racer, Part 2

Speed Racer, Part 1

Little Buddies

Today Evan and I met up with my friend Megan and her baby Brennan at the library for Baby Storytime, and then we went to the mall for lunch. I met Megan at the New Mom's Group at my hospital just a few weeks after Evan was born, and Evan and Brennan are about 2 weeks apart in age (although Brennan's fabulous head of hair makes him look about two years old!) They had fun watching each other eat lunch. Brennan has several upper and lower teeth so he was chowing down on some chicken, while Evan still had to eat his pureed mush!

Standing Tall

This morning I saw on the baby monitor that Evan was starting to wake up so I got up and began warming his bottle. When I went in his room a couple of minutes later, this is what I found. He has now figured out how to stand up on his own in his crib! I guess walking is just around the corner now.
