First Movie Theater Experience
Since Evan has been so fascinated with watching the Toy Story 1 and 2 movies on DVD over the last couple of weeks, Tom and I decided to try braving Toy Story 3 with him at an actual movie theater. We weren't exactly sure what to expect, and he seemed very excited when we were standing in line to get the tickets. Once we got in the theater, however, he wasn't too keen on sitting still. He also didn't get the concept of being quiet, and kept shouting "Oh No!" really loudly. At one point, he threw a little fit and Tom took him out in the hall, where he ran the full length of the theater building and back. When they came back in, he was content to sit in my lap for a little while but then soon got loud, squirmy and fussy again. I started to take him out in the hallway, but as soon as we got into the little corridor that leads to the exit door, he turned and became transfixed by the film again. So we just ended up standing there for about 10 minutes until we got close to the end and then went back to our seats. I guess overall it was a fairly successful (though a bit exhausting) family outing, and at least Tom and I sort of had a movie date together. The popcorn was really good, too! However, I think we'll probably stick to DVD's from now on for awhile.

Buzz and Woody
Funny Guy
Here's Evan wearing his "helmet" and doing a funny little dance after removing the clean clothes from the laundry basket and throwing them all over the room. When I showed him this video after the fact, he pointed to the clothes and shouted "Mess! Mess!" No kidding.

Happy 4th of July!
It is a brain-baking 101 degrees here today so aside from an early morning trip to Target, we've been keeping Evan indoors in the A/C and trying to keep him too occupied to notice that we haven't gone outside to play. We were thinking this might be a good year to take him to his first fireworks display tonight until I found out that the show at our local park doesn't start until 9:30 ...an hour and a half after Evan's bedtime. Oh well, maybe next year! Here are a few random pictures from today.

Dance Elmo, Dance!
Since Evan can easily escape from his play yard now, we turned it on its side and made it into a 'fort.' Here's Evan playing contentedly in there and making his new Elmo baby dance, climb and fly!
Happy Birthday to Evan...
