Zonked Out, Part 2
Evan's temperature returned to normal this weekend but he's still sleeping a bit more than usual. I took him shopping with me on Saturday and he crashed in his stroller for almost two hours, after having an hour long morning nap in his playpen. This morning his appetite finally showed signs of recovery as he chowed down on some pancakes and scrambled eggs. And now he's sleeping off his full belly again...

Sick Days
I discovered that Evan had a 103.2 degree fever on Wed. night and took him to the doctor on Thursday, expecting to hear "ear infection." However, the doctor said his ears and throat looked good and it was likely just a virus. Other than some mild congestion, he hasn't had any other symptoms, but the fever has continued to go up and down since Wed. and his appetite has been poor. I kept him home from daycare Thursday and Friday and here's a little video showing how disappointed he was to have to stay home with Mommy.

Chip Off The Ole Block
I discovered yesterday that Evan has become a fan of his Mommy's favorite band, The White Stripes. (And considering how much he heard them in the womb, it's no wonder...) Here he is enjoying "Let's Build A Home." He really likes the "Whoo" parts.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!
Here's King Evan showing off his crown and demanding that his servants provide dinner immediately!!
Chomp The Spoon!
Evan and I spontaneously created a new game at dinner time the other night. The object of the game is for me to try to shovel in a spoonful of food before he bites down and traps the spoon in his teeth. He got really tickled every time he 'chomped the spoon,' but laughed even harder when I won.

Peek-A-Boo!
Strangers often come up to Evan at restaurants, grocery stores, etc. and play Peek-A-Boo with him, but this week, he started it playing it himself. He can't say "Peek-A-Boo" (hard word!) so he just blurts out something different every time, but whatever it is always starts with a "P." Smart boy!!
Happy Anniversary!
This past Tuesday, 09/08/09, was our 8th Wedding Anniversary so Tom's parents came down last Sunday to watch Evan so we could have an anniversary date. Evan had fun hanging out with his grandparents and we had fun at the movies! Evan's Grammie made him this soft little yellow blanket to carry around. He loves it already!

Birthday Party
On Saturday, we took Evan to a Superhero-themed birthday party for the son of one of Tom's coworkers. It was held at Tom's workplace, which has a huge conference area covered in industrial carpet. This made a perfect surface for Evan to practice his walking, and towards the end of the party, he climbed a huge flight of stairs by himself (with Tom spotting him.) The parts to a Ring Toss toy were lying around on the floor and Evan quickly became very attached to the blue and red poles that you're supposed to toss the rings onto when they're set up in a stand. He carried them around everywhere, and looked like a mini Air Traffic Controller. He got so upset when we made him put them back so we could leave that Tom ended up buying him his own Ring Toss game the next day.

Making Progress
It's amazing what a difference a week can make, as it was a week ago today that Evan took his first wobbly solo steps. Now watch him go!
Determination and Frustration
Evan was playing with the laundry basket and pushing it all over our bedroom the other night, and he did not appreciate anything getting in the way of his task (like a wrought iron bed!)
Giggles
The sound of Evan's laughter is still one of the sweetest sounds I've ever heard. Here's a good sampling of it, made even better by the fact that he says "Mama" at the end of it.
