Photo Shoot

To commemorate Evan's birthday, I had his pictures professionally taken at Portrait Innovations yesterday. I wasn't sure if the photographer would be able to get him to sit still long enough to snap any decent photos, and he did race across the studio floor quite a few times! The photographer said he was the fastest crawler she had ever seen. She did manage to get some really great photos, though, and it was hard to choose which ones to buy. Thank goodness my parents were there to help me decide, and they generously split half the cost! Thanks Mom and Dad!!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!

It is hard to believe that a year has gone by since I first held my little 6 lb. 10 ounce bundle of joy in the hospital. And looking now at my 23 lb. 12 ounce bundle of non-stop energy, it's hard to believe it's the same kid!! It's been an amazing and adventurous year!

Chillin' in the Garden

We had gorgeous weather today so my parents, Evan and I went to some botanical gardens this morning. I wasn't sure how Evan would handle wandering around row after row of flowering things, but he just kicked back and enjoyed the stroller ride... and his snacks!

Fun at the Zoo

On Monday, Evan had his first glimpse at real animals - besides our cats and the dogs next door. At first, he was far more interested in checking out the other kids than looking at the beasties in front of him. However, he really enjoyed the safari ride, which involved sitting on his Nana's lap while a tractor pulled our big cart w/ rows of benches around a field. Then the tractor would stop at certain spots so the camels, zebras, etc. could come right up to us and check us out. It was a fun day!

All Aboard!

Evan's grandparents (my folks) arrived on Saturday and we've had a fun-filled week so far. On Sunday Evan got his first train ride at the mall. It was $2 each for us to have a 3 minute long, herky jerky ride around the food court, but the little guy LOVED it. I'm sure there are many more train rides in our future!

Happy Father's Day (a week early)

Since Tom is going to be out of town on business on Father's Day, Evan and I decided we should celebrate it today. We gave Tom some presents this morning and then took him out for a late lunch/early dinner to TGIFridays, where Evan enjoyed staring at people, tossing his cereal puffs all over the floor and showing off his new 'victory' pose. Happy Father's Day, Tom!! We love you!!

Big Boy Cart

Evan had his first official ride in a grocery cart last weekend, and he was quite scared at first and let out a few frightened wails. However, a few minutes into the ride, he relaxed and decided it wasn't so bad. I didn't have my camera with me last time, but I took it to the store today and captured his second official ride. Now he's an old pro, and even discovered that he could twist around to the back and drum on the package of paper towels.

Happy Birthday Ava & Aiden!

Evan's twin cousins Ava & Aiden turned the big ONE today and the three of us went up to Pennsylvania for their big birthday bash. They had a Hawaiian luau in their beautiful backyard, complete with a moon bounce for the bigger kids. (Tom tested it out and said it was a blast!) The best part of the party was watching the twins discover their first taste of birthday cake. Ava was very dainty and didn't do much damage to her cake, but Aiden completely annihilated his and ended up wearing about half of the icing in his hair! It was a great party!

Little Safari Boy

Okay, so it wasn't a real safari, just a trek through the neighborhood trails. We did spot a few wild bunnies, though!

Tired of the Paparazzi

Evan was making really cute sound effects that I wanted to capture on video, but as soon as I put the camera in his face (again), he immediately started crying.

Jumping For Joy!

Evan had a cold with a bad cough a few weeks ago, and by Memorial Day, it had developed into an ear infection. He was put on antibiotics, and a few days later, Tom and I got sick at the same time with searing sore throats and hacking coughs. Then a few days after that, Tom was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. So we were all miserable and cranky for days. Finally last weekend, there was light at the end of the tunnel. In fact, Tom and Evan were so happy to be fever-free and feeling good again that they celebrated by jumping on the bed!
