Nap Time Drama
I knew Tom was going to pick Evan up early from daycare today so I called his school and asked them not to put him down for a nap so that he wouldn't be zonked out when Tom got there. So while the other kids were snoozing away, Evan was running around the room playing by himself. When Tom brought him home, we tried to immediately put him to bed, but it was a total bust. He kept crying and begging to be held, and then wanted to run around. After several unsuccessful attempts to lay him back in the crib, we gave up and put him in his playpen in the kitchen while I continued to work from home. I finally got smart and brought out the big guns...my "Sleepy Mix" on my iPod which I use to fall asleep myself every night. I plugged the iPod into the speakers in my kitchen and let Enya and The Mediaeval Baebes work their sleep-inducing magic. He ended up sleeping from 2:30 to 4 instead of the usual 12 to 2, which probably means we're going to have more drama at bedtime tonight!

Snow Daze
Evan's daycare closed early last Friday due to the impending snow storm which ended up being a full-on BLIZZARD. By late afternoon Saturday, we had 32 inches on the ground! Evan and I never left the house until this morning (he went to daycare and I just went to the mailbox!) Poor Tom, however, has been outside several times to break the strenuous dig-out into several shifts. It didn't help matters that a snow plow came through our neighborhood and cleaned the street but left a 4 and 1/2 foot high wall of snow and ice behind all the parked cars and driveways. And now it is snowing again and the forecasters are threatening us with another 18 to 24 inches. Ugh. At least Evan has been very good-natured (unlike his Stir-Crazy Parents) and hasn't really minded the snow one bit.
