Ready for a Campfire

Evan discovered his dad's harmonica in a drawer last night and quickly figured out just what to do with it. Here he is playing his original composition "Little Boy's Bedtime Blues."

Fun with Grammie & Pappy

Evan's grandparents came down to visit last Saturday and hung out with Evan while Tom and I went out for a movie date. Evan had a great time and has really enjoyed the new Thomas Train Set and other toys that his grandparents brought him. Thanks Grammie & Pappy!!

Sandals, Jammies & Touchdowns!

Evan's newest thing is that he likes us to put his sandals on over his footie pajamas. I got him ready for bed the other night and he brought me the sandals and said "Peas? Peas?" Then he spent the next 20 minutes running back and forth upstairs, playing with his football and shouting "Touchdown!" At one point, he topped off the whole ensemble with his "helmet," a Halloween bucket worn upside down on his head. Ahh, the simple pleasures of childhood!

Feeding the Babies

I gave Evan a bowl of chopped up banana this morning and a little later, I saw that his bowl was completely empty. I asked "Did you eat all of your Mannas?" and he said "Yes." Then he started saying "Babies, babies!" and led Tom into his closet. This is what he found:

Big Boy

Evan has recently figured out how to get into our 'big people' chairs by himself. Yesterday he climbed into a kitchen chair and helped himself to a bowl of fruit that I'd just put there.

Early Birthday Present

My parents bought Evan this great table and chairs set for his 2nd birthday, which is next month. I set it up in Tom's den for now--ultimately it will go in Evan's new room when he moves into the current 'guest room.' As soon as he saw it, he sat down in the chair and started patting the table top. Now he has a great place to color and eat snacks! Thanks Nana and Pa-Pa!!!

Bubbles!

I bought some toddler-safe bubble bath recently and Evan tested it out for the first time tonight. He loved it!

Playground

The month of May has gotten a very hot and humid start with temps in the low 90's this weekend. Evan and I were apparently the only ones brave or crazy enough to handle playing outside today because we had the playground completely to ourselves.

Second Haircut

I took Evan back to Cartoon Cuts for a trim yesterday and he actually started to cry soon after the stylist put the apron around his neck. She tried to distract him with an Elmo cartoon but it was only after she brought him a toy that made animal sounds did he decide it was okay for her to cut his hair.

Mmmm, Milkshake!

When I was pregnant with Evan, I had a total aversion to sweets. That has not been the case with this second pregnancy, however, and I've taken a special liking to Arby's new Chocolate Swirl shakes lately. I brought what little was left of one home the other day and gave Evan a taste. He said "Mmmm!" and then refused to give the cup back. He then proceeded to demonstrate that he knows exactly how to use a straw.
